A buckskin is a bay horse with a cream gene that dilutes their hair to a rich caramel color with black or dark brown points. Buckskins can be found in numerous horse breeds and may vary from yellow to dark gold.

Founded in 1971, the International Buckskin Horse Association is the world’s largest registry for horses of this color. "The Buckskin" by Orren Mixer was commissioned in 1996 and unveiled at the 1998 IBHA World Championship Show. The painting depicts a buckskin stallion with nine mares and nine foals, illustrating the various shades of the buckskin, dun, red dun, and grulla horses accepted for IBHA registration. The original painting is currently displayed at the AQHA Heritage Center and Museum in Amarillo, TX.

Why we love this model

The Geronimo mould is one of my favourite stock horse moulds. When I first received him I wasn't that taken with him but over the years he has started to grow on me. I love a good solid model, nothing flashy, nothing special, just a good quality solid horse, dependable, a nice square stance, a nice colour, just right. This is what this model is. His square stance makes him perfect for the show ring but also gives him lots of performance potential. This horse would look amazing in a western tack set and his nice easy to work with mane makes him perfect for performance.

Packaging Information

This model comes in their original Breyer packaging. We will protect the box with bubble wrap and then ship in a cardboard box with padding. They will be well protected on his journey to you but if you do have any issues please just drop us an email at: catriona@chestnutridge.co.uk
